Tras 15 años en la consultora, durante los cuales ha ocupado cargos de máxima responsabilidad, Carlos Lareau ha presentado su renuncia voluntaria, esgrimiendo la idoneidad del momento debido a la etapa de cambios y transformaciones que se avecinan en en el seno de la agencia de WPP. El hasta ahora Chief Operating Officer mundial ha agradecido a través de una misiva el excelente trato recibido durante estos años, en especial a Harold Burson, fundador de la compañía.

Lareau, peso pesado de Burson durante estos últimos años, ha ejercido como Consejero Delegado en España (1997 – 2002), Presidente para Europa Continental (2002 – 2005) y Director General de Operaciones a nivel mundial durante esta última etapa.

En la misiva que adjuntamos a continuación, Lareau enmarca su renuncia como otro punto más dentro del proceso de renovación que está desarrollando la compañía, que en España ha tenido en la retirada de la firma de ADECEC y el cambio de oficinas sus movimientos más notorios.

Sin embargo, otras fuentes señalan que su renuncia vendría motivada por no haber podido recuperar su puesto de Consejero Delegado en España, puesto que él mismo abandonó y en el que le sucedió Carmen Valera, a quien le une una estrecha relación.

Reproducimos a continuación la carta de despedida de Carlos Lareau dirigida a sus compañeros de Burson:

Dear Colleagues

As Burson-Marsteller enters a new era of change and transformation, I have
decided that the time is right for a change of my own. I have consequently
tendered my resignation from the Company, which has been accepted and will
be effective immediately.

In two different stints, I have spent 15 of my 26 years of professional
life at B-M. I have held different responsibilities at the local, national, European and Global levels. I have lived through all kinds of experiences.

Some tough, some exhilarating; but all of them enrichening –personally and professionally. I have had the privilege of working on a tremendous variety of issues and clients around the world. I have had colleagues whom I respect and admire, and  from whom I've learned much more than I'll ever be able to thank them for. And I am fortunate to count many of those colleagues --current and past-- among my dear friends. Simply put: it has been a great run.

Allow me to thank each and every one of those individuals by addressing the one person that epitomizes what has made B-M a unique place and an unrepeatble experience: Harold Burson. In thanking you, Harold, I'm thanking all those who, over the years, have upheld the values, standards and style of the company that bears your name and your imprint. I sincerely hope that those fundamental tenets will never change. My very best wishes to all of you individually and to Burson-Marsteller as
